Mariac: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Nature and Outdoor Activities

The Circuit du serre de Jusclas VTT FFC N°15 starts in Pont-de-Fromentières in Mariac and leads to the panoramic ridges of the GR 420. The circular route is 14.5 km long and has 500 m of positive elevation gain. The VTT-FFC circular route N°14 “Entre crêtes et vallées” is 23 km long, has 600 m of positive elevation gain and follows the Dorne River back to Mariac. Halfway along, it passes through Girond and its small streets.

Culture and History

The Sentier des Tuiliers leads from Girond to the former clay extraction site used to produce Roman tiles. The route there and back is approximately 3 km long and takes about 45 minutes; information panels explain the history of tile production. The hamlet of Girond has wooden and stone houses, a renovated bread oven, cobbled streets and a Jardin des Simples. The Le Serre de Jusclas hike allows a detour to the Romanesque Church of Saint-Etienne at point 4.

In the Vallée des Tuiliers between Cornuscle and Pont de Fromentières, numerous tile works developed from the clay deposits of Cornuscle.

Art

The Galerie d'art: Au cœur des hautes vallées de l'Ardèche in Mariac can be visited free of charge by appointment and offers free parking. It displays paintings of the high valleys of the Ardèche, as well as older works on this subject and on other motifs such as flowers and portraits.

Landscape

Serre de Mourgue, Serre de Jusclas, Serre en Don and Rocherine are mountains in the immediate vicinity of Mariac.

The wider region around Mariac is home to four ruins: Ruins du château de Mézanc, Ancienne Chatreuse de Bonnefoy, Château de Rochebloine and Ruines du Monastère Saint-Michel de Charay.
