Culture and History
The Sainte-Agathe Church in Trescléoux is a remnant of a priory founded in 1075. The Protestant temple in the village dates from 1842. In 1516, the parish church of Trescléoux contained a Saint-Jacques chapel, which disappeared during the Wars of Religion.
The Désert de Combe-Escure on the Plateau de la Garenne was also a Protestant place of worship in the 12th century.
Hiking and Circular Trails
The short loop of the Chemin des Grives is approximately 1.5 km long and takes about an hour. The Chemin des Grives is open daily all year round and is free of charge. Its longer loop leads into the higher elevations along a botanical educational trail.
The route to the Plateau de Garenne is a short, easy, family-friendly hike through the Trescléoux state forest. Another route is the moderately difficult Tour du Mont Garde; it leads to the fountains, washhouses, colourful roofs and house façades of Trescléoux.
The water-themed circular trail in Trescléoux leads to the village’s springs, fountains and washhouses. The information board at Serre Chastel can be reached via Rue de la Mairie after 800 m.
Nature and Cycling Routes
The hike to Rocher Pointu from Pont des Gravières includes steep, rocky and technically demanding sections. There is no water available along the route to Rocher Pointu.
The hiking route to Rocher de Beaumont begins at the car park in the centre of Trescléoux and reaches a summit with a 360-degree view. The mountain-bike route to Rocher de Beaumont returns to Trescléoux via the GR 946; the descent is technical and requires caution.
The mountain-bike loop to the Plateau de Garenne passes through the municipal forest of Trescléoux, also known as Bois de la Garenne.
Village Life and Local Traditions
On 19 and 20 September 2026, a workshop on making pistoles will take place at the Maison des Fruits Anciens in Trescléoux. During the season, the Confrérie des Pistoliers invites visitors to learn about the production of dried plums known as “pistoles”.
The decorated fountains of Trescléoux are celebrated by the residents every summer. Every Saturday during the summer, Les Amis de Trescléoux guide visitors through their village; this is followed by a convivial gathering at one of the village fountains.
