Culture and History
The old village of Eyguians was abandoned at the beginning of the 20th century. In 1264, the lords of Mévouillon from Arzeliers had fortification walls built to protect Eyguians. At Vieil Eyguians stands the Église Sainte-Madeleine, built in the 14th century and restored by the municipality in 1983. The Eyguians sundial is located on a former inn.
The Poste-Musée, which opened in 2009, combines postal services with a museographic area dedicated to the history of the postal service. Among other things, its permanent exhibition displays postilions' clothing and boots, the uniform of a mounted courier, telephones, post boxes and scale-model postal vehicles. Every year, the Poste-Musée in Eyguians hosts a week-long themed exhibition. The annual exhibition includes conferences and other events.
