Vallans is a village of springs on the limestone plateau. Biefs and streams flow down from the plateau through fountains and washhouses. The communal marshland of Vallans continues to be used as pastureland to this day.

Vallans is one of the 91 municipalities that make up the Parc naturel régional du Marais poitevin. The “Marais communal de Vallans” is a 21-hectare communal pasture along the Courance.
The Verger de Jeannot is a pesticide-free conservation garden next to the Parc à Teurtous. The 3-hectare Parc à Teurtous in the centre of the village has a public barbecue, children’s play facilities, a City-Stade, a boules court and a tennis court.
Hiking
Vallans offers three hiking trails measuring 3, 6 and 8 km in length. The circular route “Le Charme d’un village-source” is 7 km long; the stated duration is 2 hours. The starting point for a hike in Vallans is at the church square opposite the town hall.

The Notre-Dame church in Vallans is associated with the 11th and 19th centuries. The parish church of Vallans contains an altar dedicated to Louis IX.
The circular route leads to the privately owned Château d’Allerit with its dovecote. Louis IX spent the night at the priory of Vallans in May 1242 during a siege.
