In Marigny stands the Église Saint-Jean-l'Évangéliste, whose main construction phase dates back to the 12th century. The church retains the bell tower bay with an octagonal dome, an apse and two small side apses.
Culture and history
The choir and chevet of the Église Saint-Jean-l'Évangéliste were classified as historic monuments on 8 April 1909. The rest of the church was listed as a historic monument on 25 May 1934.
The former hunting lodge La Groichère is a rural building characteristic of the late Middle Ages. The Château de Péré-en-Forêt dates from the 15th, 17th and 19th centuries. Two corner towers have been preserved at the château; it is privately owned and is not open to visitors.
Marigny has a biographical connection to Yves Rabault: the poet from Poitou was born in Marigny in 1910.
