Limalonges: Holiday Apartments and Houses

The Église Saint-Jean-Baptiste is a church typical of the region’s Romanesque architecture. The apse and entrance portal probably date from the 11th century. The apse, choir, and nave have barrel vaults; the Gothic northern aisle was added in the 15th century. Since 11 April 1975, the church has been fully classified as a French historic monument by decree.

Culture

The Neolithic dolmen known as La Pierre Pèse has been classified as a French historic monument since 1889 and is considered a Neolithic funerary monument and the remains of a tumulus that has since disappeared. It can be reached via the D948: after Les Maisons Blanches, drive towards Civray; the site is on the left shortly before the railway line.

The Tumulus de Nouverteils was listed as a historic monument by decree of 21 June 1993. The Église Saint-Nicolas is also located in the vicinity of Limalonges.

Nature

Glassac is a small wooded slope east of Limalonges and is designated as a ZNIEFF nature area for its fauna and flora. The area features mixed stands of oak and hornbeam, as well as boxwood and hazel; regionally rare flora grows there. The lower part of this area contains wetlands with diverse flora.

Activities

The Circuit de la Roche Bardin - Périssac circular hiking trail is an elongated loop of approximately 7.9 km. It passes through the wooded area of Glassac and then through the hamlets of Périssac and La Roche Bardin.

Nana Mac Alpacas is a small farm in Limalonges offering activities with alpacas, such as mindfulness, yoga, shared snacks, walks, feeding, and arts and crafts.

Surroundings

In the wider region surrounding Limalonges is the Zoo The vallee de singes. The historic site of Abbaye de Charroux, Château de Bayers, and historic site of Abbaye de Valence are also located there.
