Ardilleux combines named cycling and hiking trails with a remarkable history centred around the Church of Saint Junien. “La Boutonnaise”, a cycle route, passes through the village. It crosses wetlands, leads through Bouin and extends to the boundary between Ardilleux and Melleran. Its starting point is at the Château de Javarzay.
The V93 – La Vélidéale also passes through Ardilleux: it runs from Ardilleux via the Puits de l’Aume to Bouin and from Chef-Boutonne via the Chemin de la Ruée to Ardilleux. The “Le Chemin des diligences” hiking trail in Ardilleux is 7 km long. It follows the former stagecoach route that connected Melle with Ruffec via Chef-Boutonne. The trail begins near the church on the edge of the D740; parking is available next to Ardilleux Town Hall.
There is a well in the surrounding wall of Ardilleux’s community hall. The Church of Saint Junien gradually fell into disrepair during the Wars of Religion, with its bell tower being destroyed. During the French Revolution, it was converted into a sheepfold.
