Hanc: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

The marshes and hills of Hanc are classified as a Category 3 area of local interest under the “Espaces naturels sensibles” designation. The Semorelle rises in the town center and flows into the Aume.

Nature

Since 1987, part of the municipality of Valdelaume has been located within the ZNIEFF “les Prés Thomas et le Coteau de Villemanan”. Protected plant and animal species are found in the municipality of Valdelaume, including orchids, fritillaries, woodcocks, and hoopoes.

Culture

The present-day church of Hanc, dating from the 19th century, was formerly a tithe barn. A section of the wall of the former Saint-Hilaire church has been preserved between the town hall and the present-day Romanesque church.

The bell of Hanc church dates from 1867 and was donated by Jean-François Cail. In the lower part of Hanc, there are two wells and washhouses facing each other: “la petit’ font” and “la grand’ font”.

Hiking and Routes

The blue-marked “En suivant la noce” hiking trail begins at the church square in Hanc, is 5.5 kilometers long, and connects Hanc and Bouin; both villages are characterized by the ubiquitous use of limestone in their construction.

The “Le chemin des Lavandières” trail runs from Hanc through Villemanan, across fields and along roads and paths, offering nature and cultural experiences. The Vélidéale cycling route continues on to Hanc.
