Church and Local History
The Notre-Dame de Clussais church was a dependency of the Saint-Junien de Nouaillé Abbey and already existed around the middle of the 10th century. The present-day Église Notre-Dame de Clussais building is cautiously dated to the 12th and 13th centuries.
The massive bell tower over the portal of the Église Notre-Dame de Clussais rises above the long nave, which is enclosed by sturdy buttresses. Traces of wall paintings have been preserved in the nave and choir. The church also features a medieval enfeu; however, the associated tombstone has been replaced.
