Pranzac: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

The Bandiat Valley crosses Pranzac from south to north. In the town centre are the remains of the former fortress of the Lords of Pranzac; the surviving parts of this medieval complex include two round towers, a curtain wall and its loopholes.

The 13th-century lantern of the dead towers above the former cemetery, which is now used as a square. Construction of the Église Saint-Cybard de Pranzac began in the 12th century during the Romanesque period, and it was extended in the 16th century. Its Renaissance chapel has remarkable hanging keystones, which are listed in the register of historic monuments.

Landscape and Trails

The Parc circular trail is a 4-km-long, mostly wooded path along the former seigneurial park, with an elevation difference of 50 m. The circular trail through the Bandiat Valley begins at the Parc circular trail and leads through the valley; along the way, it crosses the canal and the Bandiat via two footbridges and a Roman ford.

Geographical Setting

The D 699 runs from Angoulême to Montbron through the commune, crosses the Bandiat and provides access to the centre of Pranzac.
