The Vienne is considered the main tourist attraction in Chabanais. In the central park on the banks of the Vienne, a pedunculate oak is one of the remarkable trees of the Charente; its age is estimated at 300 years and its height at more than 25 metres.

Culture
The Church of Saint-Pierre has an entrance portal set into the wall of the bell tower and features an early 17th-century neoclassical style. Inside, it houses an 18th-century altar-tabernacle-retable made entirely of carved, gilded wood. It has been a listed monument since 1980.
The Church of Notre-Dame de Grenord-l'eau is considered the oldest church in Chabanais. It houses the tombstone of Jourdain, a 13th-century lord of Chabanais. The tombstone has been listed as a protected object since 8 March 1924.
The Grenord-l’eau spring is under the patronage of the Nativity of Christ and the Virgin Mary; its feast is celebrated on 8 September.
Landscape
The Pont de la Grêne crosses the river of the same name and provides access to the village of Grenord, located a few hundred metres away.
History
The Principality of Chabanais comprised Chabanais, Confolens and Loubert as three of its four castellanies; it existed for almost seven centuries until the middle of the 16th century.
Museum
The Musée des autocars in Chabanais houses a collection of vehicles from before and after the Second World War. Some of them were restored and put back on the road for festivals and events.
The Musée des autocars can be visited year-round by prior appointment and is open to all visitor groups. It also offers excursions and trips in Citroën coaches from 1939 to 1957 departing from Chabanais and travelling throughout France.
