La Chartre-sur-le-Loir: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes
La Chartre-sur-le-Loir between river branches and cultural heritage
La Chartre-sur-le-Loir is crossed by three branches of the Loir. Along this waterway, the 9 km-long “Patrimoine et Bords du Loir” walking route leads through the town and offers the opportunity to discover numerous washhouses along the various branches of the Loir.
Anyone wishing to spend time in La Chartre-sur-le-Loir may want to rent a holiday apartment for the occasion.
Culture
The Saint Vincent Church is designed in the neoclassical style, was built in 1830 and features stained-glass windows from the late 19th century. As a whole, it has been listed as a Monument historique since 8 October 2007. The organ was built in 1860 by Henri Thébault specifically for this church, listed as movable heritage under the Monuments historiques on 3 May 2022 and fully classified on 26 March 2023.
The historic architecture also includes the Tour Jeanne d’Arc, a medieval-style tower above the former feudal motte of the château of La Chartre. The tower contains a chapel commemorating those killed in the wars of the first half of the 20th century. The Musée de boutiques anciennes et cabinet de curiosités reconstructs, among other things, a chemist’s shop, a hatmaker’s workshop and other former shops for visitors.
The travelling cinema Cinéambul provides film evenings: every three weeks, it screens films in La Chartre-sur-le-Loir that have recently been released in French cinemas.
Wine
La Maison “Voyages & Vignes” is an immersive experience centred around the wines of the Loir Valley. Visitors can taste up to six wines from 72 references produced by around 20 wineries. The Le Jasnières wine bar also serves wines from the AOC Jasnières and Coteaux du Loir appellations, from various producers and vintages, by the glass or bottle, accompanied by artisanal rillettes on toast.
The Maison du Tourisme et du Vignoble is located on the central square of La Chartre-sur-le-Loir.
