Erbrée: Holiday apartments and holiday homes
Culture and history
Erbrée is home to the Église Saint-Martin, a neo-Gothic church made of sandstone, granite and limestone, built under the direction of the architects Audrouin and Gelly. The building is 41 metres long and 18 metres high beneath the vaults. The original bell tower could not be completed because the foundations could not safely support its weight.
The Église Saint-Martin has three bells: Aline, Louise-Agathe and Pauline-Emilie. They are associated with the local château-owning families Hay des Nétumières, Modeste de la Borderie and de Legge, respectively, originate from Villedieu-les-Poêles (Manche), and weigh 500, 900 and 600 kilograms, respectively.
The historic estates also tell different chapters of the past. The central section of the Château de Bois le Beau was built in 1842 for the de La Plesse family from Vitré; the château also has a neo-Romanesque chapel built between 1890 and 1900. The Manoir de la Picotière was probably built in the 16th century, expanded in the 17th and 18th centuries with a chapel, living quarters and an orangery, and remodelled in the 19th and 20th centuries.
