Yzernay: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

The Chapelle Saint-René, also known as the Chapelle du Cimetière des Martyrs, is located in the Cimetière des Martyrs in Yzernay. The cemetery was established after the massacre in the forest on March 24, 1794, and is considered an important memorial site. The Chapelle des Martyrs honors the Vendéens killed by the “colonnes infernales”.

On January 28, 1794, the center of Yzernay was burned; part of the church was destroyed in the process. A new bell tower for the church of Yzernay was built in 1814. In the Square de la Mairie, a memorial commemorates the former Fontaine de Bodin, which was essential for supplying water to the town center.
