In Maulévrier, the Parc Oriental de Maulévrier offers individual visitors free visits during the day and at night. Groups can also discover the park during the day and at night on guided tours after making a reservation.

The Parc Oriental de Maulévrier was created at the beginning of the 20th century by the architect Alexandre Marcel. In 1987, three Japanese professors recognised the park as being inspired by the Japanese gardens of the Edo period.

The Potager Colbert is an 8,000 m² kitchen garden created by the Colbert family in 1768. Maulévrier also offers a historical and architectural tour that complements the Parc Oriental and the Potager du château Colbert.

The present-day Eglise Saint Jean Baptiste is a neo-Gothic church. Following modernisation work in 1874–1875 and 1896–1897, it was completed in 1897.

The Viaduc de Maulévrier is a former railway structure on the Angers–Cholet–Niort line. An ecclesiastical memorial displays objects, books and liturgical vestments that belonged to a cardinal and recounts his life from the priesthood to high ecclesiastical offices.

In the immediate vicinity of Maulévrier lies the Château Colbert, a château. The Musée d'art et d'histoire is a museum in the surrounding area of Maulévrier, and the Jardin du Mail is a park there. Further afield in the region are the Abbaye Notre-Dame-des-Gardes, a monastery, and the Château de Bressuire, a château.

Paths and landscapes

The visitor path through the Parc Oriental de Maulévrier along the river and pond is largely level and accessible to people with reduced mobility.

The circular route “Promenons-nous à Maulévrier: Balade sur la voie ferrée” follows tree-lined paths and reaches the Viaduc de Maulévrier. The Chapelle Saint Barthélémy is a noteworthy site along the route; it was rebuilt in the 17th century and is associated with a local legend about children taking their first steps.
