The “Le Hameau du Pont” circular trail passes through a hilly landscape with forests, scattered castles and small churches in the Romanesque style and Angevin Gothic. The circular trail in Cheviré-le-Rouge is listed as covering 17.6 km and taking 4 hours 25 minutes. Cheviré-le-Rouge is also a stopover on the way to Santiago de Compostela.

Culture and history

The Church of Saint-Médard in Cheviré-le-Rouge dates from the 11th, 13th and 19th centuries and has a distinctive Angevin Gothic choir in the Plantagenet style.

The Saint-Médard organ is located in the church. It is a characteristic instrument of the transitional type between the Classical and Romantic periods. It was built by Ludwig Bonn in 1865 and modified by Louis Debierre in 1876.

The Musée Art Sacré et Métiers d’Art is located on the ground floor of the bell tower of the Church of Saint-Médard. It displays a collection of 200 liturgical vestments and priestly objects.

The La Fraternité society in Cheviré-le-Rouge welcomes visitors to introduce them to the traditional game of Boule de Fort.

Water and leisure

The Plan d'eau de Cheviré-le-Rouge is a fishing pond. There is also a picnic area at the Plan d'eau.
