Culture and History
Today’s Église Saint Symphorien de Bauné was built between 1899 and 1904 in the Neo-Gothic style. Its portal is topped by a high relief depicting Saint Symphorien on his way to martyrdom. The Église Saint-Symphorien also houses a statue of Saint Gilles dating from the 15th or 16th century. The stained-glass window F5, “Sainte Elisabeth de Hongrie”, was entered on 25 August 1993 as a protected object.
The Presbytère in Bauné preserves several historical layers. The oldest parts date from the 12th century, and the building also incorporates masonry from a medieval manor house dating from the 13th century. The Presbytère houses the library.
The Bouquet de Saint-Éloi in Bauné contains horseshoes and showcases various techniques, such as riveting and welding, which the “Jeune” learned during his “Tour de France”.
Trails through Forests and Hilly Landscapes
The Tuffeau et bois circular trail is 21.9 kilometres long, easy, marked in yellow, and suitable for cycling. It passes through the forest and offers several viewpoints of the private castles of Briançon and les Bruyères.
The Senteurs de sous-bois circular trail is 13.6 kilometres long, is considered easy, and is marked in mauve. The trail passes through orchards and blackcurrant plantations in Bauné’s hilly landscape.
