Champ-Sur-Layon: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Champ-sur-Layon is considered one of the places of origin of the vineyards of the AOC Coteaux-du-Layon.

Wine and Culture

The Château du Pineau contains reception rooms, a chapel and vaulted cellars. The château also houses an exhibition featuring plans from the 19th century, drawn by René Hodé. The château includes a 27-hectare park with woodland, meadows and ponds.

The Château de la Viaudière is a winery on the left bank of the Layon that has remained in the same family for four centuries. It offers tours of the vineyards and cellar, as well as walks through the vineyards. It also offers 14 appellations produced using organic and biodynamic farming methods.

Landscape

The “Champ sur Layon - Vallons et coteaux” route offers panoramic views of the hillside, the Layon Valley and the Layon vineyards. These contrast with a preserved bocage landscape featuring particularly large specimens.

The “Champ sur Layon - 54 - Vallons et coteaux” route starts and ends in Champ-sur-Layon and is 16 km long. It can be enjoyed on foot, by hybrid bike and on horseback.

The hamlet of La Contrèche is a viewpoint along the route offering panoramic views over the hillside. The Tour des Trottières is a private architectural attraction along the route; its tower is inspired by Mexican architecture.

Nature and Activities

When fishing at the Étang de pêche de Champ sur Layon, white fish such as roach and rudd, as well as carp, can be found. The Étang de pêche de Champ sur Layon is also the starting point for a hike.
