Indre on the Loire becomes tangible through paths, former rocky islands and distinctive cultural sites. In the Basse-Indre section, the “Les Îles d’Indre” route leads through narrow lanes that climb towards the town centre.

Paths
The “Parcours des arbres remarquables” is a walking route through the streets and parks of Basse-Indre, Haute-Indre and Indret. Information boards accompany the route, which showcases 18 remarkable trees.
The “Pédaler d’œuvres en œuvres” cycling tour follows the “Indre” signs to Basse-Indre, where it crosses the Loire by ferry. It is 30 km long, takes 2 hours and 15 minutes, and is accessible to everyone.
History
Indret, Basse-Indre and Haute-Indre are former rocky islands and today form the only municipality of Indre on the Loire.
The former drilling workshop of the Chapelle Sainte-Anne was converted into a chapel in 1843 and has been deconsecrated since 1976. The Chapelle Sainte-Anne in Indret is located in a building that once housed a tidal mill; this was used to drill the barrels of cannons.
Culture
The Basse-Indre market takes place at Place Jean Bordais on the banks of the Loire.
There are three museums in the vicinity of Indre: the Musée Jules-Verne, Machines de l'île and the Musée de l'imprimerie.
Landscape
The island of Île Pivin is located in the immediate vicinity of Indre. The Île Beaulieu, Île Cheviré and Île de Bois are also located near Indre. The Basse Lande transmitter ruins are likewise in the immediate vicinity of Indre.
