Paths and Walks
The Circuit du Vieux Chemin Royal is a yellow-marked hiking trail approximately 10 kilometres long, with a duration of around 2 hours and 30 minutes. It starts at the Pont Ligneau car park and is open all year round. The trail follows the Sèvre nantaise and passes through fields and meadows.
The moderately difficult Circuit de la Sèvre à la Moine also passes through the countryside around Gétigné. The circular hike is 13.8 kilometres long, takes around 3 hours and 30 minutes, and runs through Clisson and Gétigné. In Gétigné, it leads to the banks of the Moine, where it follows natural, shaded paths.
The historic tour of Gétigné is approximately 2.02 kilometres long, takes around 30 minutes, and starts at Gétigné Town Hall. It leads through the town’s streets and lanes and presents the local heritage through anecdotes, remains and buildings, as well as a map with explanations.
Nature and Water
Garenne de la Moine is a 7-hectare natural area along the Moine in Gétigné, where the river flows into the Sèvre. A path runs along riverside areas, meadows and wooded areas.
During the day, Garenne de la Moine is open to the public for free, independent visits.
At the Terbin site, the canoe-kayak club offers excursions during which visitors can discover the mills of Gétigné on the water.
Le Moulin-Neuf is located in a former weavers’ village and is a fulling mill with a history of more than 300 years. Today, Le Moulin-Neuf is a natural area where visitors can go for walks and cross the weir footbridge by jumping from rock to rock.
History and Townscape
The Church of Sainte-Radegonde was rebuilt between 1867 and 1870 in the Gothic style and has a squat, square bell tower. Construction of the Sainte-Anne Chapel began in 1906; the first mass was celebrated there in 1908.
Domaine de la Garenne Lemot
The Domaine de la Garenne Lemot is protected as a historical monument. The sculptor François-Frédéric Lemot designed and created the estate at the beginning of the 19th century.
On the banks of the Sèvre nantaise, the Domaine de la Garenne Lemot combines Italian-inspired architecture in a 13-hectare park with a Tuscan house, a neoclassical villa and ornamental features such as statues, a grotto, a column and a tomb.
Villa Lemot hosts temporary exhibitions on artistic, architectural and landscape design, including exhibitions based on the collections of the Musée Dobrée in Nantes.
The Gardener's Cottage houses a visitor centre, a gift shop and an interpretation area opened in 2019, with chronological displays, images and interactive activities about the estate and the people who shaped it. Admission is free, and the offering is open to everyone.
