Hocquigny: Holiday apartments and houses

Culture

The Saint-Pierre church in Hocquigny contains two twisted column sections from an altarpiece. They are decorated with vine scrolls and serve as supports for the altar facing the nave. The two column sections date from the 18th century and were registered as protected objects on 21 January 1977. The church also contains a pulpit from the first quarter of the 18th century, which was registered as a protected object on 21 January 1977.

Another art-historical connection leads to Gréville-Hague: the statue of Saint Peter from Hocquigny served there as a proportional model for the head of a stone copy.

History

The former priory of Hocquigny dates from the 12th and 13th centuries. In the chapel of the former priory, the twin window in the east wall and the granite credence table with a double piscina were placed under protection by a decree of 9 January 1929.

Festivals

The Saint Gratien festival takes place every year at the beginning of May and was established in 1924 by Abbé Pioche. The festival includes a Norman barbecue dish, which is served at an event attended by around 250 guests.

Geographical location

Hocquigny lies between La Haye-Pesnel and Folligny and is surrounded by two branches of the Thar.

Nature

There is a no-kill fishing section on the Thar at the municipal boundary between Folligny and Hocquigny, at the upstream boundary of the Thar's confluence with the Cotonnière stream. Throughout the entire fishing season, only fishing with artificial flies or artificial lures is permitted there.
