The protected complex of the Château de Cerisy comprises the château with its painted decorations, terraces, moats and bridges, the remains of the former château including the barbican, as well as the farm. The stables located to the north-east of the château are excluded. The protection was established by decree of 4 July 1995.
The Château de Cerisy and the associated farm were built at the beginning of the 17th century. The construction is attributed to Jean Richer, who commissioned the construction of the château.
