History

A Benedictine abbey was founded in Saint-Hymer in the 11th century and remained active until the end of the 17th century. The priory and abbey of Saint-Hymer were rebuilt at the beginning of the 18th century and described as a “small Norman Port-Royal.”

The church of the former priory of Saint-Hymer dates from the 14th century, while the bell tower of the former priory dates from the 16th century.
