Culture

The main construction phases of the Église Saint-Martin date from the 12th and 13th centuries. The church has been listed as a historic monument since 16 May 1927.

The Saint-Serge Orthodox sanctuary was built in 1926 by Russian workers who worked in the factories of the Société Métallurgique de Normandie. The church, the bell tower, the library’s façades and roofs, as well as the enclosure of the parish district of the Saint-Serge Orthodox sanctuary, were listed as historic monuments by decree of 23 June 1992. Services for the Orthodox community of the Greater West are regularly held at the sanctuary; it is usually open on Heritage Days on the third weekend of September.

Nature and Trails

The Bois de Colombelles is an 8-hectare recreational area with paths, clearings, picnic areas, a green theatre and an orchard with apple and pear trees. A permanent orienteering course is also available in the Bois de Colombelles.

The Route de l’Orne is reserved exclusively for pedestrians and cyclists and offers a safe waterside walking route shaped by the rhythm of the tides. The canal between Caen and Ouistreham makes it possible to reach the beach by bicycle in less than an hour and the port of Caen in 30 minutes.
