History and Culture
The Château Guillaume-Le-Conquérant stands on a rocky spur between the valleys of the Ante and the Marescot. After the conquest of England in 1066, William’s descendants had two square, typically Anglo-Norman keeps built on the foundations of the family castle in the 12th century. Virtual reconstructions and tangible original elements allow visitors to immerse themselves in the 11th, 12th and 13th centuries.
The sick ward of the Hôtel-Dieu was built in 1204 in its present form as a large Gothic hall with three identical aisles. The Micro-Folie Falaisienne includes a digital museum, a mini fab lab, a virtual reality area, an exhibition area and a stage area.
The Musée André Lemaître houses 90 works representing four periods of the artist’s creative output. It presents works by the painter André Lemaître, who was born in Falaise and created around 4,000 paintings, including numerous Norman landscapes.

The Circuit de Falaise is a freely accessible themed trail that can be explored independently on foot and explains the development of the town from its origins through reconstruction. The Circuit d'interprétation de Falaise comprises 18 stops with orientation pillars, boards and information panels tracing the town’s history.
The Voie verte Falaise-Damblainville is a 7-kilometre-long, freely accessible multi-use route for walking, hiking, jogging, cycling and horse riding; horses may only be ridden at a walk. The route begins at the Centre aquatique in Falaise and follows the former Falaise–Morteaux-Couliboeuf railway line.
