Culture and History

The Tour Vauban in Port-en-Bessin is a fortified structure in Port-en-Bessin and was classified as a historic monument on 29 April 1948. The Circuit du Patrimoine runs along the quays and through the streets of Port-en-Bessin-Huppain and includes information panels presenting the heritage of the fishing port.

Nature

Mont Castel is a site belonging to the Conservatoire du Littoral and managed by the Calvados Département; it lies as a limestone plateau on the summit of marl and limestone cliffs above the fishing port of Port-en-Bessin. Mont Castel has a 2 km-long path set back from the cliff edge and accessible via the Chemin de l’Artillerie.

Throughout the Year

The fishing port of Port-en-Bessin-Huppain is freely accessible all year round. The Port-en-Bessin tourist office welcomes recreational sailors; from April to October, they have access to a reception pontoon with toilets, showers and a dining area.

The annual “Le Goût du Large” festival celebrates scallops and seafood over a weekend at the beginning of November.
