Saint-Aubin-sur-Mer reveals its coastal character particularly clearly in the venelles: the narrow lanes, typical of the town’s architecture, run between the plots in the town centre, with their walled gardens, and lead directly to the sea. They are also connected with traditional fishermen’s houses. The walls surrounding the gardens were used to stretch fishing nets from one garden to the next for drying.
Coast and Townscape
Along the sea stretches Saint-Aubin-sur-Mer’s 1.8-kilometre pedestrian promenade. It is lined with attractive villas featuring seaside-resort architecture. On the beach, wooden posts connected by thick ropes have also been preserved; they are considered remnants of the former era of bathing with ropes.

Culture and Local History
The Église Saint-Aubin is a neo-Gothic church. Its present building was constructed from the 1850s onwards under Abbé Bossard. Outside worship services, the church remains closed; in summer, free guided tours are offered by prior arrangement.
Following its renovation, a new space called “La Halle” opened in April 2016. Today, the association focuses its work on promoting the historical, cultural and architectural heritage of the municipality.
