Le Molay-Littry: Holiday Apartments and Houses
Culture and History
In Le Molay-Littry, the water at the Musée de la Meunerie drives a vertical wooden paddle wheel. The museum preserves a mill with its mechanical equipment still in place and presents the activities of a 19th-century farm watermill. In the upper chamber, it has three pairs of millstones.
The Musée de la Mine is located on the former mining site of the Frandemiche pit, near Le Molay-Littry railway station. It displays historic mining tools, the Périer brothers’ steam pump from 1800, which is unique in France, a reconstructed mine gallery, a model of Bruay Pit No. 5, and archaeological excavations. The museum also includes an interpretive trail around the excavations, introducing visitors to the above-ground facilities of a mine.
Anyone considering Le Molay-Littry as a travel destination may wish to rent a holiday apartment.
