Maltot: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

The choir of the Église Saint-Pierre dates from the first half of the 13th century and has been classified as a historic monument since 19 January 1911. It consists of two bays and is designed inside and out with pointed-arch arcades and columns; grotesque corbels support the exterior cornices. The Romanesque nave of the Église Saint-Pierre was destroyed in 1944 and rebuilt after the war.

History and Architecture

The Château de Maltot was built by Jean-Jacques Fortin in 1740. It is situated in a wooded park covering several hectares. The Stèle Dorset Régiment commemorates the liberation of Maltot by British troops on 23 July 1944.

Art and Events

The Atelier Galerie de Maltot is dedicated to abstract painting, artists' books, writing and contemporary ceramics. It offers three exhibitions per year featuring invited painters, sculptors and ceramicists. The gallery is open all year round by appointment.

Festi’Vallées is a free music festival open to everyone that highlights the local cultural heritage through music. The fifth edition of Festi’Vallées was scheduled to take place in the park of the Château de Maltot.

Nature and Crafts

The Verger de Sauvegarde Yves Fournière contains 202 pear varieties and 438 apple varieties. Its activities include producing apple juice. The orchard also offers horticultural workshops on pruning and various types of grafting. It regularly welcomes schools and groups by appointment.

Maltot is served by line 106 of the Nomad network's Bus-Vert service, providing a fast connection to Caen.
