The Circuit de la Vallée de l’Ante is a 12 km hiking route with a stated duration of 3 hours 30 minutes and 143 m of ascent. It begins in Eraines and offers views of the Monts d’Eraines and the Coteau du Mesnil-Soleil. The circular route starts at the car park by the church, passes a small picturesque washhouse, follows the Ante Valley and heads towards Moulin d’Eraines.
L’Ant’Re Monts is a circular route through fields and woodland for exploring the Monts d’Eraines and the country lanes of the landscape around Falaise. It includes a wooded loop in the Monts d’Eraines with a section passing by the Chapelle Saint-Anne d’Entremont; later, the route passes through the village of Eraines.
Culture and History
The nave of the Église paroissiale Saint-Rieul contains the painting La danse de Salomé. It dates from the 17th century and is an oil painting on canvas. The church in Eraines also houses a 16th-century statue of Saint Rieul, which is listed as a historic monument and is made of painted, gilded limestone. A bell in the parish church of Saint-Rieul dates from 1634.
The Église Saint-Rieul was built in the 11th century; part of the nave still dates from this period. Its bell tower is crowned by an obelisk-shaped spire dating precisely from 1803. The parish church of Saint-Rieul also contains a 15th-century statue of Saint Barbara, which is listed as a historic monument. The village landscape includes houses and farmsteads dating from the 16th to the 19th century.
