Saint-Cyprien: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Culture

The Château de Marcillac was listed in its entirety as a historic monument by decree of 17 September 2024. The listing includes its plot, its soil and subsoil, as well as its chapel. The building is privately owned and not open to visitors; it can therefore only be seen from the public road.

The château features a medieval defensive layout with a quadrilateral flanked by square towers, walls with loopholes or gun ports, and the brick base of a keep. A chapel built at the end of the 15th century stands on its esplanade. It contains monograms of the Virgin Mary and Christ, as well as finely crafted corbels decorated with scallop shells, recalling the pilgrimage route to Santiago de Compostela.

The Église paroissiale Saint-Cyprien also combines several historical details. The remainder of the church was completely rebuilt at the end of the 15th or beginning of the 16th century. The church has a tall, freestanding bell tower on the west side, a three-bay nave with a north aisle, and a flat-ended chancel. Bell No. 1 was cast in 1584, is made of bronze, and has a wooden yoke. It is dedicated to Saint Cyprian, the patron saint of the church and the village of the same name.

Festivals

The Fête votive de Saint Cyprien includes a youth evening with a DJ and hot dogs on Friday evening. On Saturday evening, a meal accompanied by a musical group and dancers follows. Sunday is designed as a convivial day with belote and board games.

Things to do

The car park for the “Au Fil des Vallées du Lendou et du Tartuguier” route is located next to Saint-Cyprien Town Hall. The route starts and ends in Saint-Cyprien and is 17 km long. It is rated as moderately difficult and takes 1 hour and 30 minutes.
