Culture and History

Rueyres is home to the Church of the Assumption, a Romanesque church dating from the 12th century. Following the Concordat of 1801, it became the parish church.

The Château de Rueyres stands out for its roofs, which are completely covered with slate slabs known as lauzes. It developed from a residential building with a round tower, probably dating from the 16th or 17th century, through extensions in the 18th and 19th centuries. Today, the Château de Rueyres consists of three building sections: an early modern core, a second building section added to the south in the 18th century, and a third building section added to the west in the 19th century. The Château de Rueyres is a defining element of Rueyres's built landscape.
