The Château de Labastide-Murat, founded by Joachim Murat, was built from 1807 onwards; construction was finally halted in 1815. The building showcases a neoclassical style that is rare in Quercy.

Culture
The Musée Murat bears the French Ministry of Culture’s « Maison des illustres » label. It is one of the few surviving birthplaces of a Marshal of France and has preserved a typical Quercy house with its characteristic furnishings for 200 years.
It also presents the original setting of Joachim Murat’s rise from a local child to Marshal of the Empire and King of Naples. The local « Circuits de bourg » convey the identity of the area in the heart of the Causses du Quercy through history, anecdotes and notable figures.
Nature
The Promenade du Roy leads from the village of Labastide-Murat along paths to the hamlet of Goudou. The route is 5 km long, takes approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes, and is suitable for hikers, mountain bikers and horse riders. After passing Lac de Boutanes, it offers views across the Causse.
The La Boucle des Crêtes cycling loop also passes through Labastide-Murat. Along the route, churches, châteaux and other fortified houses shape the built landscape. The tour is 32 km long, takes around three hours and is of medium difficulty.
Geographical Location
The GR 46 variant from Rocamadour to Cahors includes a 25 km stage from Rocamadour to Labastide-Murat. The next stage covers a further 25 km from Labastide-Murat to Vers.

The tourist office in Labastide-Murat provides brochures and information material on hikes, village tours, sights in the Lot and outdoor activities for visitors to take free of charge.
A « Bienvenue à la ferme » producers’ market was scheduled to take place in Labastide-Murat on Sundays from 5 July to 30 August 2026.
