Culture
The parish church of Sorgeat is the Église Saint-Just-et-Saint-Pasteur. The village church is built of regional stone and has an altarpiece with carved statuettes and an embossed, colourfully decorated front made of Cordoban leather dating from 1700.
In front of the church stands the Croix en fer forgé on a granite pedestal. It bears symbols of the Crucifixion; a crown of thorns is located at its centre. By decree of 5 July 1979, it was classified as a historic monument. During the Revolution, the Croix en fer forgé was hidden and returned to its original location in 1802.
History
Sorgeat's cultural heritage also includes the Fontaine de la Mouleille. The poet Alexandre-Joseph-Noël Duran was born in Sorgeat in 1802. At the beginning of the 20th century, Sorgeat was known for its milk.
