Lironcourt: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

The Pont de Lironcourt has been historically documented since the 16th century as a crossing over the Saône. In the 16th and 17th centuries, the inhabitants of Lironcourt and Grigoncourt crossed the Saône via the picturesque Gué Barrot ford.

The project for the Pont de Lironcourt was approved in 1882; the cast-iron girders were manufactured by the Karcher company from Champigneulles. The design of the bridge deck is said to have been created by the Paris-based Eiffel agency.

Culture

Laure de Saint Ouen settled in Lironcourt in the 19th century. During her stay in Lironcourt, Laure de Saint Ouen wrote France’s first history books for children.

Visitors can discover the fauna and flora of La Banie along the Sentier des vaches. An educational trail through the pasture allows visitors to explore the La Banie area. In summer, the Conservatoire des Espaces Naturels de Lorraine organises guided tours at the La Banie site.

Local Character

In the Le Charmont district of Lironcourt, 55 hectares of vines were cultivated in the 19th century. Some enthusiasts still tend a few vines there today.
