Inside the Château des Brasseurs in Xertigny, intricately crafted wood panelling, gilding and marble elements have been preserved. The Château des Brasseurs was built from 1885 onwards according to plans by the departmental architect François Clasquin.
Culture and History
From May to September, guided tours of the Château des Brasseurs are offered by the Xertigny Tourist Office. The history of the town also includes the “La Lorraine” brewery: in 1900, it employed up to 100 people before closing in 1966 after a century of intensive activity.
Trails and Circular Routes
The “Histoire en Marche” discovery trail is a 4.3-kilometre circular route through the village and forest of Xertigny. Information boards are located at important points; the route can also be walked freely and free of charge. In summer, live performances featuring historical scenes are also offered along the route.
The “Xertigny Tour” project currently comprises 15 circular routes with a total of 150 kilometres of hiking trails. These include a 45-kilometre circular route around the municipality and 14 inner circular routes ranging from 1 to 15 kilometres. The “Le Pont Napoléon” hiking trail leads to a 35-metre-high stone bridge.
The “Boucle patrimoine n°12 - du Coney à la Vôge” cultural loop runs along small roads between Xertigny, La Chapelle-aux-Bois and Les Voivres. Along the way, visitors can discover natural treasures and architectural features.
Water and Landscape
Canoes can be rented at Plan d'eau Les Woodies in July and August. There is a picnic area at the Cascade du gué du saut; various hiking trails also run there. At the Cascade du gué du saut, the Rechentreux stream flows through the municipality of Xertigny.
