Nature and Geology
Chéronnac is one of the municipalities included in the Réserve naturelle nationale de l'Astroblème de Rochechouart-Chassenon national nature reserve. The nature reserve was established because of its geological heritage and covers 50.00 hectares.
Montoume has been inhabited since the Neolithic period. The houses there are built from iron-rich impactite rock. The red stone of the houses in Montoume is impactite, which was formed when a meteorite struck approximately 200 million years ago.

Trails through the Landscape
The Circuit de la tour Mirabeau in Chéronnac is designated for hiking and mountain biking. It is a 12.1 km circular route starting in Chéronnac. From the trail, the preserved ruined tower of the Château de Mirabeau can be seen, with a remarkable series of loopholes.
The Circuit des diligences runs through the Parc naturel régional Périgord-Limousin to the village of Les Salles-Lavauguyon. Along the way, it passes numerous ponds and runs through the Tardoire Valley.
Culture and History
The Church of Saint-Sauveur in Chéronnac originated as a 9th-century chapel, which was replaced by an 11th-century church; the building was subsequently fortified up to the 17th century. Its door features an intricately crafted 13th-century bolt. The church also houses a 15th-century wall painting depicting a funeral cloth and the coat of arms of Monsieur de Rouziers, the Seigneur de Chéronnac.
