Eymoutiers: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

Culture and history

The tannery industry in Eymoutiers experienced its heyday in the 17th century. Some tanners’ houses still have open lofts that were originally used to dry hides.

The former Ursuline convent in Eymoutiers was occupied by Ursulines from 1629, who taught girls until 1790.

The Musée des Minéraux has more than 40 display cases. It presents minerals and fossils from around the world, as well as minerals typical of the Limousin; one of the display cases shows the luminescence and fluorescence of crystals under UV light.

Nature and trails

The Le Tour d’Eymoutiers circular trail passes through forests, goes by a small mill and offers viewpoints.

The Autour de la gare d’Eymoutiers circular trail is accessible by train and begins immediately next to Eymoutiers railway station.

The Vienne, a first-category watercourse, runs through the centre of Eymoutiers along a no-kill fishing stretch.

Discoveries on site

Tèrra Aventura “L’art contemporain à Eymoutiers” is a 5 km circular route on which Eymoutiers is discovered from the perspective of contemporary art.

A fishing permit from the angling association is required to fish at the de Fressengeas pond. It is available from the Eymoutiers tourist office.

Tèrra Aventura “L’histoire des Pelauds” takes visitors through Eymoutiers in search of the ring lost by the bishop and incorporates historical figures from the town.

Finding your way around

A wooden footbridge provides access to Parc du Pré Lanaud from Les Porots.

Local life

Le Pelaud is a small pastry available in Eymoutiers, made with almond powder and covered with chocolate icing. The recipe was developed in the 1930s.

A market is held every Saturday morning on Place Stalingrad in Eymoutiers.
