Culture

The Chapelle Sainte-Madeleine-de-Commelles dates from the 12th or 13th century and belonged to a fief in the Middle Ages. From the 18th century onwards, it was affiliated with a priory; today, it forms part of a former agricultural estate. The building has a rectangular floor plan, a semicircular apse and a vaulted interior.

The megalithic burial site of La Bourdasse is a dolmen discovered in 1976. Excavations there uncovered pottery fragments, flint from the Late Neolithic and shell beads. Human remains from the dolmen indicate approximately 14 individuals, including five children.

History

The Château de Pradelles appears in the archives of Aude from 1110 onwards. It was renovated several times in the 15th, 17th and 18th centuries.

In the wider regional surroundings of Pradelles-en-Val are the Château de Durfort, the Château Comtal and the Château de Termes; all three are castles. The Abbaye Notre-Dame de Rieunette, a monastery, is also located near Pradelles-en-Val.
