The “Grotte de La Valette” Natura 2000 site lies entirely within the municipality of Véraza. The site includes caves with a partially mineral-encrusted network of galleries containing shafts. Véraza has 520 hectares of woodland in forest parcels of more than 100 hectares. The Grotte de La Valette site is of great importance for researching and preserving species that are particularly sensitive to disturbance.

Véraza belongs to a small landscape sector within the Hautes-Corbières Special Protection Area, which includes the municipalities of Peyrolles, Véraza, Luc-sur-Aude, Cassaignes and Serres. The Hautes-Corbières Natura 2000 site was designated in 2006 under the Birds Directive. The peaks of Pla d'al Bouich, Pech d'al Bouich and Pech de Gaouche are located in the vicinity of Véraza. The Pech Cardou peak is also located near Véraza.

Culture

Archaeological excavations at the caves of La Valette showed that the caves were used during the Neolithic period. Jean Guilaine conducted research at the caves of La Valette near the hamlet of St-Salvayre, between Alet-les-Bains and Véraza, in 1963 and 1964.

Hiking

The 13th edition of Randos Patrimoine in 2025 included the Missègre sector and the municipalities of Terroles, Véraza and Valmigère. The 2025 edition of Randos Patrimoine offered five guided hiking trails leading close to the local cultural heritage.
