Armissan: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Armissan is located in the Massif de la Clape and is surrounded by vineyards and Mediterranean pine forests. The Sentier de Rainart is marked between vineyards and woodland and uses the fox associated with Armissan as a trail marker. One section of the trail is dedicated to the natural habitats of La Clape; local plants such as thyme and rosemary are presented there. The Sentier de Rainart also features dry-stone terraces, walls and cabanots as evidence of earlier agro-pastoral life in the Massif de la Clape.

Culture and History

The Église Saint-Étienne is mentioned in a Vatican record from 1404 as the parish church of Armissan. In the Cour du château vieux, Armissan's former medieval fortress was demolished in 1736 because of its poor state of preservation.

The remains of the Saint-Pierre church have been protected as a historic monument since 19 November 1942. The surviving section of wall has a round-arched vault on one side and is approximately 15 metres high. The remains of the former Saint-Pierre church at the site of Saint-Pierre were once the shared church building of the parishes of Armissan and Vinissan and belonged to the former Saint-Pierre-du-Lec monastery, which has since disappeared.
