Montesson: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

History and townscape

Montesson became an independent parish in 1354. The present-day Maison du Parc is a country house built in 1854 on the La Borde estate.

Nature

The Étang de l'Épinoche covers 16.7 ha, including 5 ha of water, is designated as a ZNIEFF area and is an ornithological reserve with more than 60 bird species, including 46 protected species. At the Étang de l'Épinoche, there is an observation area for observing nature; the pond is used by anglers. The Parc Départemental is a natural area for relaxation and leisure activities.

Walking trails and parks

The Jean-François Bel Promenade runs for more than 3 km along the Seine and is part of the Paris–London route for environmentally friendly transport.

The Parc des Sophoras offers walking paths, playgrounds, freely accessible tennis and football courts, a giant chess set, table tennis tables and a skate park. It is a 4-hectare park with French and English gardens and a pond. The wooded section of the Parc et Bois des Sophoras was opened to the public in July 2014.

Routes

The route through the Plaine de Montesson offers views of vegetable-growing areas, the wooded slopes of the Seine loop and the Paris skyline. The starting point of the route through the Plaine de Montesson at the Parc départemental de la Boucle de Montesson can be reached by car or by bus routes B and S1 to the Péri-Borde stop.
