Culture

Le Crédac is a contemporary art centre focusing on visual art, artistic production and experimentation, as well as encounters between the public and the works. Its programme includes painting, photography, video, sound, graphic art, sculpture, installation and performance. Since 2011, Le Crédac has occupied the top floor of the red-brick building of the Manufacture des Œillets, which was built in 1913 following the American model of the Daylight Factory, using glass and steel. The factory was established in 1890 as a metalworking factory by Charles Bac to manufacture pen holders and metal eyelets. During the 1913 extension, a tower and a building described as "American" were added, modelled on the Daylight Factory. Le Crédac’s exhibition spaces are accessible to wheelchair users and people with pushchairs.

The Théâtre des Quartiers d’Ivry offers performances, artist residencies and artistic activities and is open to everyone.

The Moulin de la Tour has been documented since 1680 and is probably older. It was restored in 1976 and listed as a historic monument in the supplementary inventory of the Monuments historiques. It can be visited free of charge from 3:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. on the third Saturday of every month.

History

The Église Saint-Pierre-Saint-Paul has been protected as a historic monument since 10 April 1929. It has been mentioned since the 12th century; its present-day architecture and furnishings largely date from the 16th and 17th centuries. The church is open for services and during reception hours.

The Hôpital Charles Foix began operating in 1869 and consists of two identical groups of buildings enclosing a large courtyard and a chapel.

Nature

The Cimetière parisien d’Ivry contains 1,903 trees from 66 different species. In a highly urbanised neighbourhood, it forms a green oasis appreciated by walkers and families and associated with 46 bird species. Its memorials and military sections commemorate the two world wars.

The Parc départemental des Cormailles includes themed gardens and garden islands, including the sand garden, the vineyard garden and a rose garden. Along a water feature, it has a canal, misting installations, reception pavilions and a sliding area. On Lily Hill are the Jardin des cimes and a solarium, while the slope has climbing structures and slides. The Sentier des Vignes is open to the public during several events throughout the year, including grape harvesting and seasonal festivals.

Cityscape

The Étoiles de Renaudie form an emblematic, terraced urban area in which shops, homes and business premises stand side by side. Renée Gailhoustet worked for several years on the redevelopment of Ivry-sur-Seine.
