Pierrelaye: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

Pierrelaye can be discovered through culture, history, nature and outdoor activities. Between local attractions, seasonal events and the developing woodland area, there are various themes for exploring the town.

Culture and history

The Church of Saint-Jean-Baptiste contains the polychrome-painted wooden statue “Christ en croix” above the triumphal arch at the entrance to the choir. The statue “Christ en croix” in Pierrelaye is listed as a protected object; it was listed on 3 July 1989.

The earliest traces of human settlement in Pierrelaye date back to the Gallic period and are associated with the Rû de Liesse. The first human settlement groups settled along the Roman road LUTECE-ROUEN via PONTOISE. The birch forests of Pierrelaye are also part of the town’s history: historically, they formed the basis of a broom-making trade.

The Pierrelaye media library offers seasonal storytelling events, theatre, conferences, music events, exhibitions, literary gatherings, as well as practical, creative and scientific workshops. Membership is free. The programme also includes Ciné Pierrelaye, which takes place once a month on Fridays with two screenings: one for young audiences at 6:30 p.m. and one for the general public at 9:00 p.m. Cabaret Humour takes place regularly once a month on Saturdays at La Mezzanine; two artists perform there.

Nature

The plantings of the Forêt de Maubuisson extend across seven municipalities: Bessancourt, Frépillon, Herblay-sur-Seine, Méry-sur-Oise, Pierrelaye, Saint-Ouen-l’Aumône and Taverny. As part of the Forêt de Maubuisson project, more than 6 km of paths were created in 2025. The project also provides an area for walks and discovery.

The woodland project of the Plaine de Pierrelaye-Bessancourt includes a 90 km network of paths for pedestrians, cyclists and horse riders; 60 km of existing paths are to be improved. The project’s existing paths remain open to the public, although individual sections may be temporarily closed to protect new plantings. The Plaine de Pierrelaye-Bessancourt and the developing woodland remain accessible during the construction and growth phases.

Activities

Escapade invites people to discover and take part in hiking. On Sundays, the organisation offers hikes of around 12 km, along with shorter outings during the week.

For adults, CSP VTT offers cross-country mountain biking as a recreational and competitive sport. The group meets on Sunday mornings at 9:00 a.m. in front of the town hall and rides on paths in Val-d’Oise and the Yvelines. CSP Tennis offers tennis at the Parc des Sports as a recreational or competitive sport on six courts, three of which are covered.
