In Magny-en-Vexin, the Sentier du patrimoine passes by the church and the two columns known by the town as the Porte de Paris. These monumental columns replaced the Porte de Paris gate, were completed in 1778, and became symbols of the town and its lords.

Culture

The Hôtel de Crosne was built in 1786 for Emmanuel Edmond Saussay; the architect Louis Emmanuel Damesme, who was born in Magny-en-Vexin, was commissioned to design it. The old, distinctive villa is now used by the town hall of Magny-en-Vexin. At the Notre-Dame-de-la-Nativité church, Magny-en-Vexin has initiated a cultural program featuring a series of classical music and gospel concerts.

The Hôtel-Dieu was relocated to the former convent. The Château des Boves also combines architectural and landscape features: it was rebuilt in 1810 and, according to a historical description, offered an amphitheater-like view over Magny-en-Vexin and its surroundings. It also has a two-hectare park; parts of the building, the park, and the enclosure walls are listed as historic monuments.

Landscape

On the grounds of the Château des Boves, springs rise and merge to form the Aubette stream, supplying a livestock watering place. The viewpoint on Magny-en-Vexin's cultural trail offers views of grain fields, groves, the forests of Garenne and Arthieul, and the hamlet of Arthieul at the bottom of the Aubette Valley.

Geographical Setting

In the region, the GR11 runs from south to north, connecting the Seine Valley with the valleys of the Aubette de Magny and the Sausseron.

History

The former Magny-en-Vexin railway station was the first station on a twelve-kilometer railway line to Chars; the line was inaugurated on August 13, 1871.
