Villevaudé: Apartments and Holiday Homes

The Église Saint-Marcel in Villevaudé, dedicated to Saint Pope Marcellus, was built in the 12th century and rebuilt in the 16th century. Its nave has aisles, while the choir has a flat end. The choir contains two bays and the nave four; these are preceded by a bay covered by a gallery.

In Villevaudé, the Promenade régionale de la Dhuis runs above the Dhuis Aqueduct. The Promenade régionale de la Dhuis, which passes through Villevaudé, is 25 kilometres long and has been open to the public since 2008.

The Mare Neuve in the hamlet of Montjay-la-Tour was restored in several stages to enhance Villevaudé's natural heritage. Municipal employees also redesigned the Parc de la Roseraie; it was intended to become a public green space for recreation. The Bibliothèque de la Roseraie is located in the Parc de la Roseraie, 16 rue Charles de Gaulle, in Montjay.

History

In the 19th century, the majority of Villevaudé's population consisted of winegrowers. In 1906, Villevaudé was declared affected by phylloxera by prefectural decree; in the years that followed, phylloxera led to the disappearance of the winegrowers and vineyards.

The new Ferme pédagogique de Villevaudé was inaugurated as a place for education, nature, and intergenerational exchange; activities and entertainment for children and adults were planned for the inauguration.
