Grandpuits-Bailly-Carrois: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

The Ferme de la Salle is a 16th-century building and is partially protected as a historic monument. Among its preserved outbuildings is a dovecote presumably built in the 15th century. Four corner turrets and a fortified gate give the Ferme de la Salle the appearance of a small rural château. The dovecote is cylindrical, has a conical roof and two flight openings facing east and south. On its second floor, ten rows of terracotta nesting openings have been preserved.

The Brie-Nangissienne community, to which Grandpuits-Bailly-Carrois belongs, offers around ten signposted hiking trails, which can be accessed via the community's and the French hiking federation's websites. The “Des livres et nous” hiking festival includes a book fair in Grandpuits.

Culture

The Church of Saint Eloi in Bailly-Carrois is a 13th-century sandstone church with an elongated ground plan and a flat-ended choir. It has an imposing pulpit dating from 1771 and preserves traces of frescoes depicting standing figures.

The Church of Saint Denis in Grandpuits was presumably built in the 12th century as the former castle chapel of Châteaufort. Its southwest tower is one of the few surviving witnesses to Châteaufort Castle.

The historic site of Château royal du Vivier lies in the vicinity of Grandpuits-Bailly-Carrois. In the wider region are Château de Courquetaine, the ruins of Preuilly Abbey and the historic site of Jouy-le-Châtel Abbey.
