Cocherel is located in the rural Pays de l’Ourcq and offers visitors a feeling of getting away from it all and slowing down, about an hour from Paris. The green countryside is one of Cocherel’s advantages.

Those who choose Cocherel as a travel destination may want to rent a holiday apartment.

Culture and History

The former lordship of Cocherel included a windmill on the hills, where the inhabitants were required to have their grain milled. The facility disappeared around 300 years ago. Before 1790, Cocherel and Crépoil were separate administrative units and were merged into a single municipality in 1842.

The present-day church of Cocherel is dedicated to Saint-Christophe and Saint-Jacques-le-Majeur and was rebuilt in 1533 and 1777. On either side of the choir are two chapels dedicated to the Virgin Mary and Saint-Nicolas. In the 19th century, around twenty relics were kept in the church of Cocherel. The Église Saint-Christophe et Saint-Jacques-le-Majeur is closed to visitors due to its condition.

Several historic buildings and sites are located in the surrounding area of Cocherel: Château de Gesvres de Crouy-sur-Ourcq is a castle, Château royal de Montceaux-lès-Meaux is a castle, Château de Marigny-en-Orxois is a historic site, and Château de Montceaux is also a historic site.

In the wider regional surroundings of Cocherel is Disneyland Paris Parc, a park.
