Culture and History
The church of Aulnoy was built in 1237; the baptismal font and the church columns also date from this period. Some preserved woodwork can still be found there beside the baptismal font. The 15th-century vaults are decorated at their crowns with the coats of arms of noble parish families. The Church of Notre-Dame de l’Assomption dates from the 13th century and is listed in France’s general inventory of historic buildings and artistic treasures.
The Château de La Houssière, also called Château d’Aulnoy, comprises a large park and an antiquely styled château with four towers and surrounding moats. The Château du Ru takes its name from the Ru Rognon, a tributary of the Grand Morin, and is surrounded by water-filled moats. The Château de Villers is one of the noteworthy sights in Aulnoy that can be visited.
The washhouses also each preserve their own architectural features. The restored washhouse of La Roche lies in the middle of the hamlet and consists of two covered shelters separated by a water basin. The washhouse of Bas Mesnil has one covered side and a water basin accessible from three sides. The washhouse of Le Bourg was restored in 2010 and is covered on all four sides.
Jehan de Brie, known as the Good Shepherd, was born around 1340 in Villiers-sur-Rognon, a hamlet of Aulnoy. He wrote an early French treatise on agriculture as well as an early work on sheep farming. A monument in his honor has stood at the crossroads of the roads to Coulommiers and Rebais since 1901.

The PR10 hiking route in Aulnoy is 9 km long, takes around three hours, and is classified as easy; it begins at the town hall.
