In Beaujeu stands the Notre-Dame-de-l'Assomption church, which was classified as a historic monument by decree of 4 December 1913. Since 1481, the stained-glass window donated by Guillaume de Montbard has been located on the central axis of the church. It depicts the Annunciation and a kneeling donor.
The mairie-lavoir dates from 1828 and was built according to plans by the architect Louis Moreau. The building is influenced by Italian villas. The ground floor houses a vaulted washhouse, while the upper floor contains the meeting room of the municipal council as well as the office.
History
The keep, the tower of the former castle, is a remnant of a fortified castle from the 12th century.
The Forge de Beaujeu was founded in 1679 by master blacksmith François Monnois with the permission of the Marquis d'Hyenne, the lord of Beaujeu. It is located on the banks of the Saône, several kilometres north of the village and west of the hamlet of Pierrejux. Initially, it was a metallurgical works and a grain mill, later a bean mill; today, it is a hydroelectric power station.
